INTERVIEW
With REBECCA AND MADDY of LA SOCIETE DE MODE
PART ONE
- The last interviewee Lauren wants to know: If you could chose an item from your wardrobe that most defines you, what would it be?
Rebecca: Probably my oxford flats. They are very 'school-girl'-y, which I am (still a senior in high school!)
Maddy: A White eyelet vintage summer dress I just purchased in New York. My current obsession is "the dress", but my style changes from month to month.
- How would you describe your style in three words?
R: Preppy with vintage
M: Girly, retro and colorful.
- Who are your biggest inspirations?
R: I really look at other bloggers for my fashion inspiration. I love The Stylish Wanderer and looking through blogs such as Garance Dore or Facehunter for their street style. Models off duty is also great for fashion inspiration.
- What are your first "fashion" memories?
R: I remember the night before the first day of middle school so clearly. My sister said it was important to make a good first impression so she picked out this adorable school-girl outfit comprised of a plaid skirt, stockings, platform shoes, a three-quarter sleeve button-down, and my hair was in pigtails. It was the first time I'd really paid attention to what I was wearing. I just felt so cool.
M: I'm not sure if this counts but when I was 5, I refused to wear sweatpants, or actually any pants at all because I thought they were tacky. I can't believe my mom allowed me to behave like such a little fashionista.
- Do you think street style and bloggers could ever take over from magazines?
R: It's the natural progression. I like the personality that personal bloggers add and the fact that they're updated constnatly. With magazines, the content is always outdated.
M: It's completely true that they're always outdated.Plus, magazines used to have the leg up with their portability but with net books and Wi-fi all over the place what do we need a magazine for? I think eventually they're going to become impractical...still, there's nothing like holding a glossy new publication in your hands.
- And what question would you like the next interviewee to be asked?
R: Favorite city for street style?
M: How do you get inspired?
First half of the interview with the girls behind La Societe De Mode, a huge thank you to them!
The second half of the interview is an even more interesting half and should be up this time next week, so don't miss it.
I bet you CAN'T WAIT!
In the meantime, you should take a look at their blog!
